Why use our calculators?

The calculators are built specifically for plant-based and vegan nutrition: they account for the higher protein needs of vegan athletes and recommend research-backed ranges (1.6–2.2 g protein per kg bodyweight for muscle building).

Calculations are based on the Mifflin-St Jeor formula for BMR and standard activity multipliers, together with USDA FoodData Central data for the recipe calculator — the same data professional dietitians use worldwide.
